P3D Stereo Printing

Hi Folks,

It seems the polarized printing inks are here, but OUCH are they expensive.
I was just quoted the following for the new service:

>currently we are offering two sizes. the smaller size is 8"x10" and costs
>$200. our larger size is 17"x22" and costs $880.

I expected *expensive* but these prices seem to go way beyond expensive and
into the realm of the absurd and ridiculous.

Some of you have managed to experiment with this process already and from
other sources. What are YOUR opinions about what it SHOULD cost to print
images with polarized inks? What does the ink material cost anyway? Are they
charging for hours and hours of image processing or just for outrageously
expensive inks?

BTW, for those who haven't heard about this stuff, two images are printed in
cross polarized inks on opposite sides of a transparency. You wear standard
and inexpensive 3D polarized glasses for a superb stereo view that is FULL
color. Very impressive, but apparently Gold plating is cheaper...
