P3D Three L Rule

I am not sure which "3L rule" Bruce is talking about but I know
of a 3L rule that applies to the stereo window:
The Left eye should see Less in the Left side.
If you look out of a real window you will notice that the left
eye inddded sees less in the left side. (You can make a simple
ASCII drawing too, to demonstrate this - see Stereogram 4.3)
When taking stereo pictures by sliding a camera with axes
parallel (or using a stereo camera without a built-in stereo
window) you will notice that the left eye always sees more (than
the right eye) in the left side. That's because the window is
set at infinity. To "correct" this and to set the proper window
in a stereo pair you must trim the outer edges of the image (or,
push the film chips away from each other which does the same
thing). By trimming the left side of the left image you will
make the left eye see less, hence you have created a nice stereo window.
