P3D Stereo Nomenclature (part 2.5 of 3)

  • From: Bruce Springsteen <bsspringsteen@xxxxxxxxx>
  • Subject: P3D Stereo Nomenclature (part 2.5 of 3)

First, errata:

In Part 1 I misspelled Berssenbrugge. Never could spell that word.

The third full paragraph of Part 2 should have said:
***
If left and right images are presented in viewing with their infinity
separation shifted inward or outward from direct alignment with the eyes,
then all separations between homologous points are increased *or
decreased* by a fixed amount, and that changes all convergence angles and
brings about the deformation known as "frustum".
***
(the phrase "or decreased" was missing.)

Post in haste, repent at leisure.

Then George, champing at the bit, said:

>>This is fun! But why one part a week??? Can you just give us
>>the full dish? Or are you afraid we'll get indigestion??? I am
>>waiting to get all three parts, print them together and study
>>them. Then I shall reply! :-)

Top Ten Reasons, in no particular order:

1. APECIII deadline!
2. Meeting of the KCMPA stereo club to attend!
3. The library server was down several days during my afternoon break.
4. George and Abram both took a month (at least) to reply to my initial
provocations in their "FBI" and "Third Deformation" series and I was a
patient boy then. Let them wait for the third shoe to drop! :-)
5. "Dramatic tension."
6. A new arrival named iMac at my house to attend to.
7. Careful preparation of post-rebuttal response. If I'm going to stick
my fanny out for target practice, I want to be prepared for the worst! ;-)
8. Helping the list to develop long-term focus and memory, and a
deliberative demeanor. Not all topics can be exhausted in a week!
9. My pencil broke.
10. Driving George crazy.

The denouement tomorrow if all goes well.

Bruce
