Yes these are still available!! It is an Eveready #412 (Looks like a 9 volt but the contacts  are on the top and bottom) There is also the Eveready #505 (It can be adapted it  is the same length as the #412 but narrower some foam rubber does the  trick) The local electronics shop here carries them in stock for $4 it is a  common battery for a Volt Meter. Try Radio Shack or your local Electronics  firm
