Do you really begrudge the journalists their creativity? (they have to
do a lot of writing!) The journalist may have had an excellent idea of
what is going on and merely found a creative way to express the less
concrete aspects of the situation. In that sense it is well expressed.
It's intended to convey meaning and it does. I find that it may not be
very complete by itself, but if it maintains someone's interest maybe
they will get more from it than a description that is more technically
rigid?
