P3D The Conservator vs the Stereophile (Was: Vintage Slide Question)

Sometimes I'm torn between being the Stereophile and the Conservator. I
call myself a Collector, which, in my case, is a conservator/stereophile who
doesn't really know what he's doing....
I guess I'm some of each, at different times:
When I collect something, I don't like to modify it. So I can be a
"conservator". Ex: I've never refinished an antique stereoscope. My
Nightmare Before Christmas figures are still MOC. You get the picture.
Though, I bought a red button Realist viewer and then a Realist camera.
I was planning to actually use the camera. So, I'd also be using the red
button fairly often. I sent it to Dr. T for improvement. The
"stereophile," inside of me, won that battle.
I ordered a Radex viewer with three views, from ebay. When I received
them, it turned out that someone had either pulled out the film chips and
reversed them, or they were manufactured improperly. I corrected the chips
on two of the three views, but left the third one intact... for the record.
The "collector" was afraid to fix all of them.
