I just got a copy of AM2K; I haven't used the Hash software in a few
years, so I'm back on the steep end of the learning curve. But the
stereo camera is really cool; much better than any other I've used in
"3D" software. I am in the process of developing some web tutorials for
stereo in this program; I'll have a "quickstart" and some sample images
REAL SOON NOW. P3D will be the first to know!
But, briefly, it renders to anaglyph in "grayscale", color, and what was
called "truecolor" on this list not long ago. Also will save interlaced
and side-by-side formats. The stereo base is entered in a dialog box,
and is animatable. The stereo window (the "frame" in "Hashspeak") can be
set numerically or graphically, by dragging the frame of the stereo
window in the graphic workspace! Really neat and easy! The window can
also be keyframed over the course of the animation. Pretty close to what
I've always wanted. None of this toe-in nonsense!
We can thank Oliver Dean for a lot of this; he has been "nagging" the
Hash guys for years to implement stereo, and his input has greatly
influenced the implementation. We should also thank programmer Noel
Pickering; his personal interest in 3D made it all happen.
More later!
