People use to think the world was flat because from an individual 
perspective, the world appears to be flat, or on one plane.  Angles represent 
distance to us.  This is what artists use on a plane, a sheet of 
paper or canvas, to create the perception of distance-angles.  Since the 
moon appears to be more at eye level on the horizon, there is no angle and 
therefore no perception of distance.  You can draw it out on a piece 
of paper to see what I mean.  I think.  ....therefore I may be right, but , 
then
again, I may be wrong, and then again I may be fatuous, (on this point), 
enlighten me if I am.
