Pixar has done a stereoscopic short. "Knick Knack" is the story of a
snowman in a snow globe trying to get out so that he can join all the
other tourist souvenirs who are partying at the other end of the
shelf. The soundtrack was by Bobby McFarren. It was shown with
polarized projection at SIGGRAPH about ten years ago. They even sold
anaglyphic t-shirts (with glasses) featuring the main characters.
"Knick Knack" was the last short made by Pixar's Short Animation
Department before it was closed down so that Pixar could concentrate
on commercials (Life Savers, Listerine, etc.). You can get "Knick
Knack" on one of the Pixar compilation tapes, but it is not
stereoscopic.~
"Geri's Game" marked the opening of the new Short Animation Department
at Pixar.
