Check me if I'm wrong...

The movie Bwana Devil was shot in 3-D

To save money, actors were placed in front a movie screen and
movies of charging elephants were projected onto the screen while
the actors feigned terror.

The 3-D effect was somewhat unconvincing.

Help! We are being attacked by pictures of elephants!

Perhaps this is the movie you have on DVD?
