P3D OSPS Part 2 ( or 2A)

My first image entitled " Silent Stream" was printed in the PSA
journal......a "shoe in" for an award. "Oh NO!" I said....the image was
out of focus! And dark! Are we using a projector with beer bottle lenses
and flashlight illumination?
Moments later the focus was adjusted but too late! The judges already
scored the slide average. Dr T's delightful image was a series of row
boats tied to a long dock during a sunset. 3rd place right away! I sank
in my chair but I was not upset at this point....I think the image just
relaxed me.
My second image entitled " Aloft" was a hot air balloon elevating above
an arrangement of trees. Every element of the photo was combined colors
of blue and green. In fact I hastily changed the title from "
blue-green" to "Aloft" just before the competition to avoid Dr.T's
inevitable question..." Are the balloon pilot's real names Blue and
Green?" " I'm not sure I understand the title". T has used this ploy
before with some success and I wasn't going to go down by "
inappropriate title" this time! Not as aloft as I had expected but the
slide received an honorable mention.
Finally, my best slide " Mountain Pure", a stream cascading along mossy
leaf covered rocks...unquestionably my best effort of the evening. A
calculated tactic using the word "pure" would certainly have a
sublimital effect on the judges, and I noted a while back that the
phrase "pure adultry" had a positive effect on the Clintons and Lewinski
is doing national commercials for Jenny Craig. The move paid
off.....second place!! T was not as lucky. His strategy was based on
"all eggs in one basket" approach since all 3 images looked similar.
Reminded me of the Super Bowl as Dr T comes up a foot shy of winning the
whole thing!
See ya next month. Mark Dottle
