This has been my experience with Kodak. First, I send my slides in via
our local Target store with the phrase "Stereo Realist Format". So far
this phrase has worked well with every roll I've sent in.

As for results, most of my slides have been mounted without any
problem. However, I did get back one roll with every slide mounted
pseudo. And, I have had chips swapped on similar scenes. Occassionally
I've received a mount with only one slide. No telling what happened
with the other chip.

Anyway, somebody on eBay was selling heat seal mounts and I bought a
set. I unmounted all the pseudo chips and remounted them in my newly
acquired heat seal mounts. I was pretty surprised on how easy it really
was. I used a laminating machine as my source of heat and pressure to
seal the mounts and it worked quite well.

I then attempted to mount a roll I had developed at a local photo shop
(specifying no cut, no mount). After I got used to the sequence that
the chips are in, cutting, sorting and mounting was pretty easy.

Now, I still pretty much still send my slides to Kodak for processing
for two reasons. 1) it's still cheaper although the price through
Target went up from ~$6.00 to ~10.00. And I was disappointed when they
moved the stereo processing from Dallas (~6 day turnaround) to wherever
it is now (~21 day turnaround). 2) With a 6yr old, a 3yr old and a
11mth old, I have no time to sit down to cut & mount, even the 1/2 to 1
hour that it takes to do a roll. Perhaps when my youngest gets a bit
older and actually listens when daddy says "Don't touch that", I can sit
at the coffee table and mount while we watch "Who Wants to be a
Millionaire". I can let my boys help me while they answer the first few
questions. (my 6yr old could get to the $1000 mark!)

Bottom line, IMHO the person who is now mounting stereo for Kodak
doesn't care about the quality of their work. So, I just take what I
get and remount the problematic slides.
