P3D "Stereo Madness Grips Austin"

Deep in the heart of the stereo desert known as Texas,
a sparkling 3D oasis slowly, but relentlessly, grows.
As local photographer Ed Buffaloe puts it, "Stereo
Madness Grips Austin." See

The Year 2000 got off to a smashing start as a record
nine (9) stereo worshippers congregated for the January
meeting. (Had several recent new regulars been able to
attend, the count could have been in the low double
digits!) Perhaps that night's full eclipse of the moon
had something to do with it. As fate would have it, we
had both a TDC Vivid projector and a silver screen on
hand, instead of the usual collection of T'd RBs. And,
as fate would also have it, the number of pairs of eyes
far exceeded the number of pairs of polarized glasses on
hand.
A refugee from Dallas, who found me through the RMM web
site, delighted the assembled throng with his disaster
pictures. No, not his disastrous pictures, his pictures
of the aftermath of various disasters; the Northridge
earthquake, for example. He makes training videos for
emergency workers such as police and fire fighters, and
snaps stereo pictures while he's at it. (Ok, so it doesn't
beat Mark Kernes' gig, but it rates pretty high in my
book! ;-) )
"Giggles the Stereo Clown" (aka long-time Austin 3D cult
member Gary Nored) showed off his "Amazing Stereoroid,"
his long-sought solution to the riddle of becoming filthy
rich from 3D photography. See the link above or view just
a picture of the contraption at:

And lust filled the hearts of all who cast their eyes upon
the remarkable Rolleidoscop medium format stereo camera,
exhibited by yours truly.
So why do I mention all this now? Because on Thursday,
February 17, we'll be back at it again, and everyone is
invited to attend! Same time (7 pm), same place (Howson
public library). Contact me off-list for more info, driving
directions, etc.
