P3D Look who's here!

Did I see Bob Brackett's name, or was I dreaming? Welcome to
photo-3d Bob!
For those not familiar with the name, Bob Brackett is an
authority in stereo projection, has designed, built & sold the
famous line of "Brackett Dissolvers" (essentially two stereo
projectors in one unit, allowing for manual stereo dissolve...
using standard Kodak parts) and later the "Brackett Fader". And
this is only one facet of his diverse stereo activities.
I remember how I first met Bob... It was August 1988 in the NSA
convention in Cincinnati. I had just bought my first Stereo
Realist in June, had gone to Greece where I shot my first dozen
rolls of film and was rapidly falling in love with the medium.
I went to the convention with my wife, pregnant at the time with
our first child. It was in this convention that I saw Bob
demonstrating his Dissolver. The demonstration was excellent!
I knew I had to get one, I just did not know how I could afford
it, being a soon-to-be father with no real job, at the time.
Later that weekend, I went to the trade show and handled my
first stereo view. I looked for one from Athens, Greece, and
showed it to my wife: "Look honey... isn't that nice?" She
gave me a dirty look and said: "Hey Mister, one thing is enough
(meaning the Stereo Realist)... you are not getting into an
other (meaning collecting stereo junk!)"
Little did she know... :-)
Ten years later I acquired my Brackett Dissolver, used (they
were out of production by then) via sell-3d. At that time our
basement was taken over by my stereo paraphernalia (stereo
views, View-Master, stereo books, cameras, equipment, the
works!) It was unavoidable I guess...
Of course, she was relieved to hear me announce last month that
she will soon have her basement back because "I am selling
everything" and will only keep the equipment that I use and the
stereo collections that mean something special to me. I have
been auctioning 2-3 boxed stereo view sets a week in ebay. So
far so good. Prices are high. I am finally proving to her that
I was not crazy after all... :-) All these boxed sets, bought
10 years ago, were really an investment, paying off today.
One of the things which are here to stay is the Brackett
Dissolver. When the selling frenzy subsides I hope Bob will
help me fill the gap here:
