The problem is, I believe, not that they have to diverge their eyes more
(they actually don't, unless the viewer is not set properly) but because
they can't view the "whole" image properly. This is usually due to too
small diameter lenses. Ferwerda's book clearly explains this granted,
often confusing principle.

For example, a person with 60mm eye separation, would still be parallel
viewing with a viewer that used 20mm diameter lenses and 65mm lens (and
infinity) separation. Granted, they would have a difficult time seeing
the "whole" image, but wouldn't need to diverge their eyes to fuse it.
Solution is simply, larger (albeit more expensive) diameter lenses.

Note, larger diameter lenses will also allow to increase the infinity
points.

NOTE: There can be some factual errors in this message due to it being
