  Now that you mention it, I remember that I have heard this theory from a 
number of people that the Vivid may have been factory set to focus at 
different distances - but I have two concerns about that theory:
 1)  Not all Vivids that I have used have that problem - which leads me to 
 believe that it was not factory set - unless they set some that way and not 
 others.
 2) Could someone explain the benefits of purposely setting both lenses of a 
 stereo camera to focus at different distances.  If it was such a good idea, 
 why were no other cameras (except the Microma) set up this way?
 
 Sheldon Aronowitz
