I understand where you are coming from Gary, and I admit I will
do the same when projecting PSA shows... (not always, but in
some extreme cases).

I am not the competition projectionist for either the Detroit or
Cleveland clubs but I have to agree with their practice of not
adjusting the projector during competition. First impressions
are the most important. If you adjust a misaligned slide you
will punish the perflectly aligned slide that follows by
projecting it misaligned at first, PLUS you will never teach
anyone to pay better attention to mounting (why pay attention
when the mistakes will be corrected in projection?)

What to do with mismounted slides? The same thing you do when
you view them in the viewer: Let them in their misery and move
quickly to the next one.

Another issue: You will agree with me that it is virtually
impossible (if there is a way, I would like to know) to tell
which side is raised or lowered. So the initial turn of the
adjustment knob has 50% chance to go the wrong way. This
contributes to the abuse of the eyes.

Any way I see it, it is best not to touch this adjustment during
a show...

George, dictator, etc...
