P3D Slide scanners

Fellow 3D'ers:

My Microtek ScanMaker 35T-Plus just died. I can't get it to work. 
I bought it a little over three years ago and paid about $750. Hell, 
I could have bought a Belplasca! Anyway, my question is: 
Has anyone used the Pacific Image Prime Film 1800U ? It has 
resolution close to that of my recently deceased ScanMaker 35T, 
(1800 vs. 1900 dpi) but it can be bought for $199, shipping included. 
Before I spend more money that I don't really have :-) I thought I 
would poll the group.
