While on this subject, can you control exactly where the perfs hit with a
film recorder? For example if you need a perf to hit dead center of every
frame.

I work with a Polaroid 8000 film recorder. The operator is able to select 
from a variety of different "film tables" that correspond to film types. 
Choices include color negative films (such as Kodak Gold 100) E-6 films, and

even B&W negatives. Sadly, there are no film tables available from Polaroid 
for Kodachrome.

With enough trial and error, it would be possible to write a custom film 
table for Kodachrome.
