numerous layers), than what I experience through a viewer.<

It doesn't look like flat planes to me at all.
I wish everyone could see the amazing, original 2 1/4 and 35mm
transparencies in the incredible Hugo de Wijs viewer, like I was lucky
enough to... NOTHING can EVER compare to that stereoscopic still experience,
in my opinion.

>Are you satisfied with the results of these anaglyph presentations?<

I must say that I've never seen better in a magazine- have you?
I told them from the start that it would not work on tv.

>Most importantly, do you feel that this very public exposure "makes a
case" for what the stereoscopic medium is all about?<

It could be (and has been) a lot worse! (The printed anaglyphs.)
Imax 3D and theme park 3D films also help in a very positive way.

>And, the overall
impression left by the magazine is that 3D is primarily a "gimmick".<

How so? Showing half naked girls is a "gimmick" all by itself (in many
cases! I say this with the highest regard many of Boris Starosta's nudes).

>I was originally upset that I didn't get to personally participate in
influencing what the public would see on
TV<

But you already admitted that it's a weak medium on tv- I don't think
anything that anyone could have done would have improved it. How could you
have done better?
Digital television will make a big difference, I believe.

>I work in the 'field-sequential' format because it stands 'head and
shoulders' above any other currently available 3D video technologies<

Even that is extremely limited, given the low refresh rate of NTSC
monitors... I generally don't enjoy the experience on a TV- it works fairly
well, however, projected through a Vrex or demultiplexed projector pair.

>Anaglyph is fun in comic books... I have high hopes that several currently
evolving and emerging
technologies will soon give us some genuine alternatives.<

Absolutely!

In the meantime, we can only work with what is currently possible. Computer
imaging has allowed us to come a long way from "comic book" anaglyph (I say
that with the highest regard for the King of Anaglyph, Ray Zone!) I'm a very
recent convert- for a long time I had little interest in anaglyph--
especially full-color. But I've come to believe that it can be done well and
has it's place in the palette of stereo media.
