There is a table and a discussion on this issue in my Realist
book and my Realist web site:
http://home.att.net/~drt-3d/toys/realist/
There are two clearly different stocks in both 3.5 and 2.8
lenses:
- The Ilex 3.5 lenses made by the Ilex company in Rochester NY,
were the first lenses fitted in Realists. Later lenses write
"David White". The latest 3.5 lenses had the "Germany"
indication.
- The Ektar 2.8 lenses were made by Kodak. Clearly different
than later David White 2.8 lenses. Some lenses write "Germany"
(more common than the 3.5 Germany lenses). The Custom lenses
are also different stock.
The unclear part is if the "Germany" lenses are different than
the plain "David White" lenses. To me, they look identical.
