An old trick that fits in your pocket: Take a line of sash cord or
other non-stretch rope, attach a bolt tone end of a size that fits your
tripod socket. Step on the other end of the cord, pull the camera tight and
press it against your face. You will stabilize the movement in all
directions. It is not as good as a tripod, but will certainly help minimize
movement.
If you take the bolt and put a couple of nuts tight on one end, maybe
with a washer or two, you will have a good purchase for knotting the line so
it doesn't slip. Experiment.
