Lincoln asks about electronic shutters? He really means electric
shutter release perhaps. Since the late '70s, the close focal plane
shutter in SLRs was replaced by a clever blade shutter at the focal
plane, controlled by magnets. Often called a Copal-Leitz shutter.
Since release is determined by electro magnets with some true
magnets..it is electric button. Digital cameras are a whole electronic
device so of course have electric button. Often frustrating as you
can't hear a click and may take time for autofocus and image
storage before you can take next picture. Point and shoots often
have a programmed shutter in which there is not a true shutter but
the diaphragm can completely close and acts as a shutter. Only
opening to the chosen f/stop. FED stereo is a example.
Hope this helps..BobH
