P3D printers

Right now on the alt photo list a discussion is going on regarding
digital imaging. The following article was cited...

which basically says that ALPS will stop marketing "branded" printers
although they will continue to support those units now in the field.
They do imply that they will continue to provide OEM units.

For me, this is a disappointment as several of the ALPS printers
are regarded as some of the best dye-sub process printers around at
a reasonable price. But as the article points out, they just can't
compete against $49 inkjet printers as marketed to most computer
users...
