Paul has a good point. Having a pretty high profile address as
system administrator here, I get a TON of spam - most of which is
filtered out by my using procmail on our unix box. Obviously also
people are harvesting e-bay ads too, since until recently I was
using a "real" address rather than an alias, and all of a sudden
suspected stuff from there also increased.
Grabbing one of the "free account" services to use in posting
to lists is a pretty good idea, although a bit of a pain. At least
you can discard it when the spam volume gets too high.
Once we go to restricted access for both reading postings and
archives (you'll have to be subscribed to do it, which I'll have
to approve) I hope we can keep the brakes on the spammers.
