Did you say CAVES! I am an avid stereo cave photographer
(hence my knowledge of flash) and also administer the 3D
Underground Folio. Let me know if you are interested in
participating.

Anyway, as Dr. T. has already mentioned, the exposure (not the
GN) will vary with your subject. If you are shooting in a nice
bright limestone cave it will be different than if you are
shooting in a dark lava tube. I usually shoot a half stop
under for limestone and a good full stop over for lava tubes.
Of course all this depends and many other factors, such as
model atire, etc. (watch out for reflective tape and stickers
that cavers seem to like to put on their helmets).

This is the only way to do cave photography. Contact me when
you are ready and I would be happy to offer advice about
different slaves and how to use them. Then I will convince you
to start playing with flash bulbs!

There are other books that are very good. They are by Chris
Howe (a very good and famous B&W cave photographer from
England). I know you can get them from the NSS, but probably
from amazon.com as well. Just do a search on the author. I
can't remember the titles, but something like The History of
Cave Photography and How to Photograph Darkness.

Hope this helps.

That's all for now,
