Well, to put an end to this, I have heard back from 
the seller who took my reply in good humor.  I 
apologized once again and the issue is closed.  

On the other hand, I am stuck here with Mike's 
response which is bothering me.  According to 
Mike, after passing a rare chance to educate someone,
I spit at the seller and offended both the seller
and Mike, by portraying stereo enthusiasts as 
damned rude.  This is the results of changing
from DrT to Mr. Hyde behind the keyboard. (ouch!)

My response:  I have infinite patience to educate anyone
who wants to learn, but I have very little patience for
people who think they know everything (while they clearly 
don't) and extremely little patience for people who 
manipulate ignorance for their personal gain.  Somehow, 
I thought that both these conditions applied in the case 
in question, but I admit I was hasty in my response and
that only hurts me, and not stereo enthusiasts at large.

At the end, we all learned something from this.
