This reminds me... If you are a Monty Python fan, AND if you have access to
a Laserdisc player, then you should try to see the deluxe letterboxed
version of "The Holy Grail" which among many other goodies, includes a bit
of a Japanese audio dubbed release of the film which had gone through
multiple translations and eventually came back to English - presented as
sub-titles in the black area at the bottom of the screen. It's one of the
funniest things I think I have ever seen - and it's real!!! =)

I can't do the exact translation, but here is a sample English to French to
Spanish to English quote:

"The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held
Excalibur aloft from the bosom of the water to signify by Divine Providence
... that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur ... That is why I am your king!"

to French and back to English:

"The lady of the lake, her arm silverplated in samite purer shimmering,
Excalibur maintained in the cover of the chest of the water to mean by
Divine Providence... that I, Arturo, was to take Excalibur... This is the
reason for which I am its king! "

Not the best example, but you get teh idea... =)

Back to the subject at hand, I can understand why some of the content was
interpreted back the way it was - and know of no way around the problem. I
still say that the original translation wasn't TOO bad. =)
