I have been amazed by the quality of hand-coloring of
old stereoviews.  I found a picture of Old Faithful in 
Yellowstone that was perfectly colored with matching
pastel colors.  How was that achieved??? I would like
to learn more about the process... Somehow I cannot
imagine that this was done by hand on each individual
view...

Here is one interesting example of a pair of stereo
views both by Keystone. The location is the Sunken 
Gardens in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, PA.

One view is in B&W. The other view is nicely hand-colored.
The angle of view is not identical but close enough.
