I have shipped 30 to 50 packages to Canada this way, and well over 100 to 
the rest f the world via USPS. That coupled with the several thousand 
packages I have sent via the USPS over the past few years - all with loss or 
damage lead me to believe that they are the way to go. IF you MUST have a 
tracking number, then let your buyer pay it. If they don't need it, neither 
do you IMHO. Let them know that once you deliver it to the Post Office, it's 
out of your hands. In my experience, some will want "insurance", most will 
not.
