Hotels are like other big busy businesses. Call the hotel and find a
friendly person,
perhaps the reservations manager or the front desk manager. Explain
what you want to do.
Have your package sent to you in care of him or her.

Your chances of things getting garbled are much less if you get a
single human being take
responsibility. It also helps if that person is in management...the
package is more likely to
get to them. Please make sure that your name and arrival date appear
plainly on the outside
of the package. Be friendly. This may sound like silly advice, but
some people think that being
nasty is the ticket to special treatment. (Think of how many movies
you've seen where someone
yells and gets abusive at the front desk, usually because they don't
have a reservation. Everyone
cowers and they get a great room for nothing. This is not real life.)
Being friendly and tipping for
special service (you were going to tip someone for taking care of your
package, weren't you?)
will pay dividends for a travelling photographer.

As a bonus you're more likely to get an upgrade to a nicer room
since you have an in house advocate.
