I agree!  Makes me want to buy one, but without expecting too much from
it.  Saw some slides made by Paul Talbot with a Sputnik recently, and
they were impressive in the SaturnSlide viewer.  If anyone knows where
to get a Sputnik in excellent working condition at a reasonable price,
please let me know.

Right now, my two Ricoh Diacords, although having perfectly matched
lenses, do not have even approximately matched shutter speeds except at
1/100 sec, and I don't know whether there is a practical way to get them
to match up.  And twin cable releases are a dogmeat way of getting synch
when your subject is moving!  A Sputnik, modified as recommended by
Brian, sounds like an agreeable way to get hassle-free medium format
stereo pairs of slow-moving subjects, provided the lenses are OK and the
shutters are properly synched.
