In New Digest #33 Peter writes, in part:
<< As far as I know twin cable releases were (and maybe are) used in two
situations ...[snip]
Twin cable releases were never used (IMHO) for synchronisation although
you can twiddle with them (if they are adjustable) to get a degree of sync
for
stereo work. >>
Peter, I must disagree. In every publication that I have ever seen from
Rowi, their dual release has been pictured connected to two cameras. The
Rowi release is their part number 10 (yes, ten). To quote from their 1982
catalog:
Twin Cable Release
For use with bellows attachments or simultaneous operation of two cameras.
One of the cables has plunger travel adjustment for proper sequencing. Black
cloth sheath, thumbscrew lock and rotating nipples. 50cm/20"
The accompanying illustration shows the item connected to a Leica R4/MOT on
one end and a Nikon EM on the other.
The last importer (that I know of) of Rowi products to the US market is/was
Mak Pacific, but I have been unable to find any reference to them newer than
1998. My recent internet searches for either Rowi (Robert Widmer Strasse,
Neubug, Donau, Germany) or Mak Pacific have (so far) been fruitless.
