Wouldn't just installing a newer version of real player (from
http://www.real.com) do the trick instead?  .rm is their format
to begin with.  It probably can be either "activated" from within
netscape (how I do it) or perhaps as a plug-in (I haven't checked
for that version, I prefer the separate real-player window'ette).

P.S. - There is a free version of viewer (version 7) on that
       site, one just has to click past a zillion ads for their
