I want to thank Ray for posting the .pdf files on stereo cameras,
including thr Verascope F40, Busch Verascope.
One thing that has puzzeled me is where the Australians got the idea
that the camera had triplet "Cooke" lens design. This included info on
replacing the lenses with those from an Olympus early point and shoot
camera.

The 15th edition of Cox Photographic Optics 1966, shows the SOM Berthoit
FLOR f/3.5 as a Tessar design, i.e three element with rear lens a
compound pair. FLOR was also used for an f/4.5 Ross Express type (last
element triple compound.)
I have always had the sharpness associated with a Tessar with my
Verascope once I applied black matte paint to tyhe inside.
