Hi Fred... I have no clue what you are trying to say in the paragraph
above. Why should you have marked the slide bar halfway between the
two ends? What do you mean that you made the mistake to use the right
side for viewing?

Certainly. The main area of application of slide bars is tabletop
photography. When I am out in the field and I want to record a
sequential stereo pair with a single SLR, I usually just handhold
it. A nice subject for single camera stereos in the field is
architectural subjects, buildings, details of buildings, statues,
etc.
