Even with the RBT-X2, which is based on the Ricoh KR-10M (XR-10M in USA)
SLR, I find that I have my right index finger constantly switching the
cameras on and off to keep them awake. It becomes an automatic action after
a while. However, to be doing it with two cameras at the same time is a bit
much, hence the 4 wire modification.
As far as the "dreadfully bad internal display" that Boris refers to, I
fully agree but do not have a solution. The display is on in low light, off
in very bright light when captured light illuminates the display and it is
also off when the small amount of captured light entering the display area
is insufficient to display the exposure settings.
