Hi, Allan!

Agreed! All I meant by "wasted time" was going into a store and, not
knowing what you are going to do in advance, thereby futzing with poorly
thought out methods that may or may not result in selecting a good pair
of matching cameras.

A few months ago, I decided to try to find a match for my Ricoh Diacord
G (old medium format twin lens reflex). I was expecting to use the twin
camera rig on relatively stationary objects, and synch was not a serious
problem - my twin cable release would be adequate for my purposes. I
spent some time planning what I was going to do at a swap meet if I
could find a match to the camera I was bringing with me. I carefully
planned how to test for matching lenses and, miraculously, found a
camera in which the lenses DID match perfectly. The only problem was,
most of the shutter speeds didn't match, because synch was not a problem
and I hadn't planned well enough to test shutter speeds at the swap
meet! Now I have the problem of determining whether the shutters can be
adjusted to match, or whether I am stuck with using the two cameras only
at 1/100th, the one speed that matches.

So having a good idea of what you are going to do in advance is what I
meant by eliminating "Wasted Time." I wasn't expecting you to explain
how to do a complex job in an impossibly short time - that falls into
the category of "too good to be true!" :>)

I'll always remember one outstanding hyper you took, apparently from the
air, of a cityscape with a helicopter in the forground, and the
helicopter blade was stopped, with some blur, in EXACTLY the same
position of its rotation with EXACTLY the same amount of blur, in the
right and left views -- an example of perfect synch at high shutter
speed. That is one reason I'll be listening carefully to what you have
to say about matching cameras for perfect synch at the place of
purchase!

Thanks for your informative posts, Allan!

You say you are selling ISU memberships -- can I renew mine through you,
or is it better to go through our US representative?

Cordially,
Oliver Dean
