Very nearly so.  Roughly 21.5 x 23mm.

Well, sure...if you are willing to crop off a bunch
of image.  2x2 is the outside dimensions of normal
35mm film slide mounts.  But full frame images are
24 x 36mm.  So you would be cropping 36mm down to
23mm.

Note that the outer dimension of a an R-format mask
is 41 x 101mm.  So it is possible to make an R-format
mount with apertures that would accept vertical full
frame images.  But I don't know the constraints imposed
by the viewers and projectors.  What is the height of
the opening of the apertures in a Red Button?  In the
various flavors of TDC projector carriers?
