I understood that J.B.Dancer had invented the first true stereo camera
sometime about 1839. I think Brewster suggested what he called a
"Binocular" camera but did not actualy make one. Leonardo-Da-Vinci drew and
perhaps built a double camera  obscura although the purpose does not seem
to have been to produce stereo drawings    but to demonstrate that light
travels in all directions. He seems to have regarded the two images as
identical although he new the views from two eyes are not
