   It is not clear from the article if this is 3D data retrieval
   which is then displayed on a 2D screen with object manipulation,
   or if a true stereoscopic image is displayed.

   Of course once 3D data is captured, there is no reason why a 
   stereoscopic image *couldn't* be created.
