>After years of using my Ricohs simply plugged together, I took the brave (for
>me) step of doing this same operation on Saturday with complete success.

I'm glad to hear your procedure was a success - don't you feel like you just
got a brand new stereo camera?

>I think Jim's idea of using modular telephone wire and jacks is
>brilliant. The connections snap together and contact is much better than
>mini phone jacks.

I got the idea of using telephone jacks from an article in Stereo World a
few years ago- someone used phone jacks to twin two Minoltas. There's a
photo in "Jim's XR-10M folder" in the P3D files which shows which color
wires we've soldered to the three shutter connections. If everyone uses the
same colors we can connect 8 or 12 Ricohs together at NSA and take some nice
synchronized full frame lenticulars.

>I was long accustomed to the camera wake up routine and resigned to a few misfires
>on every pair of rolls but those problems are now a thing of the past.

Nothing but a fond memory now...

>Jim has also helped Sheldon Aronowitz connect a pair of his Ricoh bodies in this
>manner.

Sheldon came over and we successfully wired up two of his XR-10Ms. I
learned an important tip which I forgot to put in my instructions in the P3D
files. Always check that the camera has good batteries before taking it
apart! That's right folks - I spent an hour trying to figure out why
Sheldon's camera wouldn't power up, removing the phone connections and
apologizing profusely for having destroyed it. Just for the heck of it I
switched battery compartments....

>I currently have 4 of these bodies and I'll be on the lookout for more. I'm
>thinking lifetime supply here!

Shhhh....Keep it under your hat! Jim
