[photo-3d] Fed B-O-Y and first mounting job ...

Well, I just mounted my first roll of film. I've had Realist and twin rig
shots commercially mounted for years. I've occasionally re-mounted a few
botched Realist pairs, but this was my first time doing a whole roll. I
was greatly aided by a box of RBT mounts I picked up from Jon Golden today,
and an inexpensive Hama cutter I got from Jim McDonough. Both worked
beautifully.
Also, this was the first roll I put through a new Fed B-O-Y. Overall, I
think it was quite successful. There are a few outdoor shots which were
out of focus, probably due to my forgetting to set the range (there's no
rangefinder). In general, though, both outdoor "auto" exposure and indoor
flash shots came out very well. I found this camera to be about as easy to
use as a Realist. It does have an automatic exposure feature, but the lack
of a rangefinder is a drawback. I like the wider 7 perf. format, mainly
because it gives me more latitude in composing my shots. I'll have to try
stress testing this camera under unusual or difficult lighting circumstances.
By the way, does anyone know if the FED B-O-Y actually shuts off when you
push the advance lever in over the body? I couldn't find any other way to
conserve the battery.
Thanks,
-pd
