The maximum resolution (depending on film format) for a Pro Photo CD
is 4096 x 6144.

The files on a Photo CD are Kodak Photo CD Image Pac files, also known
as PCD files. There is one file per image which contains all five (or
six for Pro Photo CD) of the various resolutions for that image.

Photo CD can be used with slides, but I've heard that they don't turn
out as well.

You should check Philip Greenspun's site
<URL:http://www.photo.net/photo/>. He has a lot of interesting
photography information and recommendations for Photo CD.

I had one Photo CD done by Kodak several years ago. I had them make
the Photo CD when they developed the film. This is cheaper than doing
it after you get the film developed, but as I found out you can wind
up with a disk full of clunkers (the shutter on my camera needed to be
repaired). Also the 100 pictures per disk is pretty optimistic. I
got about 90 images on the disk, and didn't have any say as to which
images were left off.
