One thing to beware of when reading the article: When we see a
reference to FL in stereobase discussions, I think most of us
think about the FL of the lens on the camera. MAOFD, being based
on angular calculations, is really based on viewing distance, so
when the authors mention FL, they are referring to the FL of the
viewer lenses. "Ortho man" (co-author John Bercovitz) virtually
cannot conceive of viewing a stereo slide at other than a FL that
matches the shooting FL. OK, I exaggerate a little. ;-) But
do keep in mind when reading the article that the FL references
are to the viewing lenses, with the *assumption* that the viewing
lenses match the shooting lenses. If not, you'll need to make
some adjustments to the calculations.
