Let me vote my total agreement with Peter here...
Apparently, there are a lot of people who do not consider this
type of photography (indoor shots, people at home, kids at parties)
as serious photography. I can hardly see how twin camera or
a Sputnik would be of much value for these situations.
This is a type of photography that I like to do. I like to take
pictures of the cat doing funny things, the kids playing, close
ups of all different types. Spontaneous hand-held action
stereo pictures. The Realist (especially indoors with a flash)
has been a very good tool for years. The RBT S1 with
the autofocus (YES, this is a situation where autofocus is
useful in stereo) smaller lens spacing and dedicated flash is
even better.
Ray mentioned his wife's success in PSA salons with
the twin cameras. With a little creativity and luck, even
these family snapshots can make award-winning material.
Mark Dottle is starting an exchange folio with a "Cities"
theme. We are asked to drive downtown Cleveland to
take pictures of some monuments and buildings which
have been around 50 years ago and most probably
will also be around 50 years later. How about a "Family
and Friends" or "People" folio? Is anyone interested in
exchanging stereo pictures of people? People who no
doubt will be very different 50 years from now? I would
personally treasure this collection more than pictures of
urban landscape. Plus, I won't have to leave my house
to take the pictures :)
