I don't think he knocked 35mm *projection*. In my read, all Don
said about projection was that shows go too quickly, so the extra
information contained in a MF slide cannot be absorbed. I've been
urged to run a MF show at 5perf speeds myself.
Don did say a particular club was disdainful of 35mm stereo, but by
then Don seems to have switched gears to talk about MF versus 35mm.
Clearly if he showed them a slide of a mountain in the same place the
original was taken, he wasn't projecting.
Don admits he's no expert typist. He runs everything in one
paragraph, which makes it hard to tell when he changes the topic.
But his images are jaw-dropping, even to those accustomed to the MF
jolt.
I do find that 5perf and 2x2 shooters get touchy when you compare
formats. I'm not going to repeat my MF workshop this year to
eliminate the misperception that I'm blasting other formats.
But honest, I don't think any insult was intended.
