I visited a few of the "needle drop" (now *there's an archaic term!) or
"buy out" music outfits which were mentioned recently. These are outfits
that with a one-time sale (various prices) allow you to use their music
without royalities. The paradigm is like software - you can use it
any way you'd like but you can't make copies of it for others nor
sell it. This is unlike the ASCAP/BMI, etc outfits which want you
to pay for a track every time you play it (or buy a blanket license,
which some radio stations used to do (It's been a LONG time since
I was in radio :-)  )

I'd looked at buy-out awhile ago but found the general musical quality
so low I'd never considered doing it. However, this has changed. There
are sample files you can download to hear the selections, and some of 
the ones I listened to are quite good. 

I'm probably going to investigate this further after the summer when
I start again looking at multi-media facilities at the college
here.
