I'd strongly suggest that you carry your film with you, or leave it in
your air conditioned hotel room. 35mm cartridges and 120 rolls are
small enough that you shouldn't be inconvenienced by carrying the film
with you. I would think it would be less trouble to carry than
worrying about ice, what to do with the water when the ice melts, and
how to keep the film dry. And of course, if you have all your film
with you you won't run out of film.
When I travel with my Sputnik I bring a small Tamrac
<URL:http://www.tamrac.com/> shoulder bag (Model 603 Zoom Traveler 3,
I think) with the Sputnik, a Pentax AF280T flash, a flash bracket, a
Pentax digital spotmeter (in other words, a lot of junk) and all the
film I could use. If I'm traveling with two cameras (usually I bring
my Yashicamat 124G for B&W and to use as a meter and rangefinder for
the Sputnik) I'll bring a slightly bigger generic camera bag. If I
don't take the flash (something I shouldn't do, I found a great Hot
Rod gathering after sunset on my last trip) I can get the Yashicamat
and the Sputnik in the Tamrac bag.
If I bring my 4x5 Speed Graphic with me I use a large tackle bag I got
at K-Mart or a 500 cubic inch external frame backpack, and then I have
to plan ahead for the day and decide whether or not to leave the
camera and film behind in the hotel on that day's outing. Usually I
don't bring the 4x5 unless my wife is driving because I haven't
figured out a guaranteed way to get sheet film through airport
security without going through the x-ray machine or having the film
box opened.
