Well, I'm not an expert on all the American R-mount projectors, but my 
suggestion would be a Hawk projector - probably a model 5. This had 150 or 
250 watt 24 volt bulbs, so has to have a transformer built in, so it's not 
exactly light. But it is certainly compact. From memory, they are about 14 x 
7 inch footprint by about 5 or 6 inches high. Earlier models had other bulb 
configurations - the earliest didn't have fans. 

Slide transport is a simple push-pull carrier - and you can even gat a 
carrier for 2 x 2 slides... 

Of course, it's been out of production for about 20 years, but they often 
turn up second hand here in the UK...

Of course, you could get an RBT... :-)
